Ingredients
1 1/2 c sugar, divided
8 eggs
1 t salt
1 1/2 c water (or skim milk)
2 large cans evaporated milk
2 t vanilla
Melt 1/2 c sugar until golden.
Pour into 2 qt baking dish.
Mix eggs, remaining sugar, and salt.
Add water, evaporated milk, and vanilla.
Mix well.
Pour into dish with sugar and bake at 350 in 1 inch hot water 1 hour oro until knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes out clean.
Refrigerate overnight.
Makes 10-12 servings.
